Wild weather is battering large parts of South East Queensland and northern NSW, and severe weather warnings remain current with heavy to intense rainfall in those areas, as well as “dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding” warnings over coastal and nearby inland areas.

NSW SES has issued advice for people living in affected areas, and says those in warning areas should stay indoors.

“Destructive winds can cause injury and damage to property,” the SES said.

“Flash flooding can occur suddenly and without an official warning. Monitor rainfall in your areas and avoid travelling during heavy rain.”

The SES recommended lifting items including waste and chemicals above expected flood heights, and prepare emergency kits with essentials such as medications, important documents and family photos.
