‘Extremely alarming’: Three arrested after woman killed in Toowoomba

A woman has died in hospital with gunshot wounds after an incident in North Toowoomba that remained under police investigation on Wednesday night.
Police swarmed Christmas Street, not far from Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, about 2pm after reports of a shooting.
Several hours later, police were still trying to piece together the crime, and had arrested three people they described as associates of the victim.

A vehicle was also impounded by police, as they sought anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage that could assist with the investigation.
“It’s extremely alarming, we’re talking about it [happening] early in the afternoon around school pick-up,” Darling Downs District Acting Detective Inspector Brian Collins said.
“The police response will be very swift to try and ascertain what’s occurred here today.”
Collins was unable to confirm whether the woman was a local, what type of firearm was used, or the exact circumstances of her death.
He said there was nothing to indicate it was domestic violence.
“Our thoughts go out to the family. It’s devastating that a person loses their life in such a way,” Collins said.
