An aspiring member of parliament “no longer holds” the same views on illicit drugs that she posted to social media between 2012 and 2015, including that a ‘life lived without experiencing LSD is a life wasted.’

Eloyise Braskic, who is at an unwinnable 23rd position on WA Labor’s upper house ticket, posted on the platform Twitter (now X) a series of comments promoting drug use.

“Take drugs, not advice”, “The drugs have worn off. I’m actually so sick right now”, and “The only way anyone can enjoy that kind of music is with copious amounts of drugs” were among posts made in 2012.

Eloyise Braskic, who is at 23rd position on WA Labor’s upper house ticket, was called out over old social media posts about drugs.

Three years later Braskic mused, “I feel like a life lived on this earth without experiencing LSD is a life wasted. What do you think?”

Premier and party leader Roger Cook condemned the use and promotion of illegal drugs on Sunday, but declined an opportunity to see the posts first hand.

“Anyone providing ad hoc advice in relation to drug use is not appropriate, and particularly illicit drug use,” Cook said.

“I clearly don’t want any candidate or MP undertaking illegal or improper activity.”

A WA Labor spokesperson confirmed Braskic would not be disendorsed as a candidate, but had been counselled.

“The post from 13 years ago by Ms Braskic was inappropriate, does not reflect the Party’s position, and Ms Braskic no longer holds those views,” the statement read.
