Raso and Crystal Dunn wrestle up the sideline and she wins a throw-in for the Matildas.
Holly McNamara takes a chance off Emily Sams who seems to be giving Australia their best opportunities in the box. McGlynn is lucky to save that one and she knows it, apologising to her teammates afterwards.

There’s an additional few minutes of stoppage time and the Matildas have a few more chances.
They’re defending way better than they did against Japan and even though the accuracy of their shots is questionable, at least they are getting into positions to make them.

Another corner for the Matildas
The Matildas have earned their fourth corner which is taken by Cooney-Cross, it’s quick and it lands at Raso’s feet but it’s just short and breezes past the side netting. This is looking way better for the Matildas, they regain possession quickly and Foord takes a shot but it goes wide again.
Alyssa Thompson fowls Charlie Grant who takes another beating. Matildas get the ball again just before half-time.

Matildas take few opportunities with half-time approaching
Ellie Carpenter is holding up against the speed of Emma Sears on the left wing. The Matildas are looking far more confident in this match than the one against Japan on Friday. They have another chance in the box but McNamara gets caught in front of Korbin Albert and the chance dissipates.
Cooney-Cross has a go and so does Grant but neither chance converts.

Rare mistake from US isn’t fruitful for the Matildas
McNamara tries to wrangle her way around defender Emily Sams and she gives it away cheaply to Foord. Grant crosses to the back post and Raso is quick but Mandy McGlynn is quicker. Another corner to Australia, they already have more chances than against Japan on Friday.
Kennedy heads the ball over the goal.

Players go down as physicality continues
Play resumes after Grant’s knock to the face. A mistake from Carpenter forces a seventh clearance in front of the goal for Australia compared to five from the US.
Australians get bodies back into their box, Alyssa Thomspson and Giselle Thompson use their twin telepathy up the right side of the pitch but Micah is relieved when the ball passes far above the goal.
Australia gets a rare corner and Kennedy gets her head on the ball but it’s no luck. Play stops when Fowler takes the wind out of Giselle Thompson.
