Police search for missing Perth man as temperatures soar

Emergency services are urgently searching for a man missing in Perth’s north-east as the city swelters through a heatwave that has pushed temperatures past 40 degrees.

Lucas Ormond, 23, was last known to be in the area of Melaleuca and Bullsbrook on Monday morning.

Police and SES have set off on a land search in Melaleuca and a command post has been set up on Scarlet Road.

Ormond is described as being 193 centimetres tall with a medium build, brown hair, facial hair and a neck tattoo.

Police hold concerns for his welfare and have urged anyone who sees him to call 131 444 immediately.

Temperatures climbed as high as 45 degrees in Gooseberry Hill on Monday as Perth sweltered through the third day of a severe heatwave.
