Two killed as light plane crashes off NSW coast

Two people have been killed after a light plane crashed off the NSW coast.

Emergency services responded about 4pm on Saturday to reports of a crash off Nambucca Heads on the NSW mid-north coast.

A witness said he saw a light plane appear to go down out to sea, according to police, and wreckage was spotted about 1.5 kilometres offshore.

The pilot and passenger of the aircraft died at the scene and are yet to be formally identified, police said.
